Green Design Community School Vision
The Green Design Community School (GDCS) empowers students, working with community partnerships, related green businesses, and through targeted service-learning projects and community fairs, to develop a commitment to the world around them by understanding the many facets comprising their family, community, city, state, and global environment. Through acquired skills and enhanced knowledge in technology, literacy, and numeracy, students will become lifelong environmental stewards by creating a sustainable world through innovation, practice, and message.
Green Design Community School Mission
In order to improve life for future generations, Green Design leverages arts to enhance student application in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, creating aware, productive, and proactive 21st century global citizens.
What does it mean to be a Green Design student? A Green Design student enters into a 4-year, rigorous and relevant college-preparatory program that focuses on his or her place in the environment. From self to home to neighborhood to city to state to the world, Green Design students leverage arts and design to apply math, science, technology, engineering, literacy and critical thinking, creating a better world, expanding on successful environmental programs, and ideating of environmental solutions for coming generations. As the founding principal of the Green Design, now in its sixth year, I invite all environmentally aware students to participate in and contribute to a vibrant and caring school culture and academic climate.
