Head Football Coach


The Diego Rivera Learning Complex seeks an outstanding individual to lead the athletic department as the Head Football Coach.  The Diego Rivera Learning Complex is located in the Florence-Firestone area and is made up of four Pilot High Schools.  Green Design STEAM Academy, Communication & Tech Community School, Performing Arts Community School and Public Service Community School work together to make up the Diego Rivera Husky Athletic Program.  Our approximate 2,000 students are kind, hard working and proud. The school supports an after school tutoring program for all athletes. All practices after school as there is no athletic period at this time.


The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with stakeholders, be highly organized and know how to prioritize and problem solve.  The ideal candidate should have experience working as a high school football coach and be able to model good character. 


Rate of Pay-Head Coach $2,811

Stipend for Certificated or 196 hours @ $14.35 per hour

Ability to select Football Paid Assistant Coaches:

Varsity Assistant #1-Rate $2512, Varsity Assistant #2-Rate $2102, Assistant JV #1-Rate $2311, Assistant JV #2-Rate $2102




  • Must possess all CIF coaching certifications and trainings, (CPR, AED, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Suicide Prevention, Heat Illness Prevention) Negative TB Test, Fingerprinting
  • Confirm team buses
  • Inventory athletic equipment and supplies
  • Review equipment and uniform orders
  • Conduct assistant coach, student and parent meetings
  • Attend required coaches meetings
  • Disseminate communication to all relevant stake holders
  • Enforce the six (6) pillars of character
  • Game set up and management
  • Submittal of incident reports, as needed, to athletic director
  • Conference as needed with athletes and coaches regarding behavior and expectations
  • Recognize and enforce Title IX guidelines
  • Ensure the safety of equipment and facilities for practice and games
  • Assess player development and formulate game strategies
  • Maintain and submit all team data (i.e. rosters, scores, tournament request, etc.) and individual data (all league, all city, etc.)
  • Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with Administrators, Athletic Directors, Teachers, Parents, Financial Manager and Students
  • Comply with District Fundraising Protocols
  • Enforce CIF Los Angeles Section Rules, Policies and Regulations
  • Assist students and parents in the paperwork process as it relates to transfers and waivers
  • Attend sport playoffs meetings
  • Supervise assistant coaching staff
  • Other duties assigned

    1. Coordinating an 11-Man Football Program at the high school level
    2. Using conflict resolution strategies with at-risk youth
    3. Supporting academics through athletic participation
